A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US:
Many moons ago, we unearthed our dream of becoming co-childminders to share our love of education with our local community. It has been such an exciting journey of research to turn our dream into the reality of our impressive, multi-sensory day care centre! As mother and daughter, we have always been inseparable and having worked side by side for many years, we truly know how to bring out the best in each other and form the perfect team. We have a calm, caring nature and of course we also share an affinity for creativity and fun! We are so proud of what we have achieved and all we need now is the little faces and laughs to make it complete.
WHAT MAKES MUMMY AND ME SO SPECIAL?

Mummy and Me Montessori is an extension of your life - a second home. We serve healthy meals prepared in-house each day and cater to all dietary requirements. The children are encouraged to join in with the cooking, as well as, other day to day tasks; such as caring for our vegetable garden and even feeding our friendly pet tortoise!

Our activities! We tailor the teaching to each individual child, creating focused activities that encompass their interests as well as their key developmental steps. We believe, it is also important, to encourage the children to step outside of their comfort zones and broaden their horizons, with some additional exciting tasks.

Saving the planet! We are on a mission to be a sustainable operation. Where possible, we endorse reusable face cloths, towels and even using eco-friendly nappies! We recycle as diligently and as much as possible and once our doors are open, we will be creating our own vegetable garden with the children. We can’t wait for the children to decide what we should grow! ​

​We provide nappies, wipes and creams! We have researched extensively to ensure they are the best natural and eco-friendly products available, as we are both passionate about the planet and the sensitive skin of the young ones we care for. ​

So much to explore, right on our doorstep! Mummy and Me Montessori is in a prime location. There is an easy-access driveway with plenty of space to park, as well as a nearby bus stop. We are surrounded by beaches, farms, shops, stables, wildlife and many other wonderful things to discover - and all for free! We place a huge emphasis on getting outdoors wherever possible, as we believe there is so much we can learn from exploring the world around us. Check out the 'Our Trips' page to find out more!

The privilege of being childminders! We only care for six children at a time, allowing your child the freedom to socialise without feeling overwhelmed. Having this smaller focus group also lends a more personal experience, where we can truly get to know you and your little one(s).
THE MONTESSORI ETHOS:
Maria Montessori believed that it was important to ‘follow the child.’ She believed that children should be supported as an active learner, trust the child’s inner motivation, provide freedom within limits and encourage the child’s inner discipline. In order to provide this for a child, she believed that children should work with children through a range of ages, work in a favourable environment and have an empathetic practitioner. In our setting children are given the freedom to explore and develop to their fullest potential, as we promote independence and activities that children can freely choose. This allows the child to be imaginative and creative. They will work with one to one assistance on an activity, as well as independently and can choose to work in groups. Children become so involved in their work that it creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere. It is our job to help facilitate the learning process, stimulate interest and support the child. With Montessori children are given the unique opportunity to learn about what gives themselves fulfilment as well as learning at their own pace and the desire to challenge themselves and discover their strengths and interests.
